This subreddit is for the discussion of using WINE to play video games. Wine provides both a development toolkit for porting Windows sources to Unix and a program loader, allowing many unmodified Windows binaries to run on x86-based Unixes. Wine (originally an acronym for 'Wine Is Not an Emulator') is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, Mac OSX, & BSD. This release represents a year of development effort and over 6,000 individual changes. Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix.
